Live with your Monsters
In 2015, I had a dream to be the best rider that I could, get as far as I could along the “Pro Dream”, win races and tell a cool story. I hoped to inspire people and encourage change for the better. But everything changed in 2016, when I had an innocuous crash that led to a Traumatic Brain Injury. It was a inflection point, where everything I had worked for was stripped away and the dream of pro cycling was replaced with learning how to be a human again. After my TBI, I struggled with depression and anxiety which took root in an eating disorder that hospitalized me. My road to recovery and acceptance began when I was able to look my Monsters in the face and learn to live with them. The first step was the scariest, but with the help of my friends, family and professionals, I learned to live with my monsters. To walk along side them. To have them in the open, not hidden away where they can grow and take hold. |
Since 2021, we've raised over $50,000, and for that I am so humbled and grateful. 2024 is a new year, new goals, and the same mission of awareness and fundraising.
